My name is Merilee McLean and I am thrilled to be at Newport Middle School. I recently served as a summer school administrator and an administrative intern for Carteret County Schools at Morehead City Primary, Beaufort Elementary and Beaufort Middle Schools. I have taught fourth through eighth grades in California, Minnesota and Japan. I have also taught in Craven County Schools and most recently served in CCPS as a fifth-grade teacher at Beaufort Elementary School.
My husband, Steve, retired from the Marine Corps in 2021 and we have made Carteret County our forever home. All three of our boys, Cooper, Grayson, and Tate graduated from Carteret County Schools, with our youngest two having just graduated this last summer. I am very grateful to Carteret County Public Schools for the exceptional education my own three boys have received here and it’s an honor to serve alongside the Eagle family to support the amazing students and families at NMS!
